The article presents the partial results of the research, whose objective was to analyze the Social Service in the health policy and the intersectorality in the neighborhood Residencial Jardim Europa II, municipality of Ituiutaba/MG.
Based on the dialectical method, looking at this reality as a whole, the research takes a qualitative approach. Field data collection is carried out through a questionnaire applied to Social Work professionals that work with the families.
The results show that Social Work contributes directly to health and that the professional project follows the SUS principles; they also show that, although Brazilian legislation is consistent with the intersectoral perspective, the challenges to the effectiveness of intersectorality in public policies are significant. The
current scenario requires the strengthening of intersectoral work, as a strategy to effect access to the social rights of the population.
